Justin Ziegler, 42, of the 3100 block of Swallow Lane, Rolling Meadows, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, driving while under the influence of drugs or a combination of drugs, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 1:44 p.m. March 29. He was released and assigned a court date of April 1.

Shevitta Thomas, 36, of the 9300 block of S. Luella Avenue, Chicago, is accused of identity theft, and was arrested at 4:42 p.m. March 26. The arrest followed an investigation into an incident that occurred on Nov. 15, 2023, in the 500 block of Short Lane, according to police. She was released and assigned a court date of March 27.

INCIDENTS

INTIMIDATION

An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 1:20 p.m. March 26, they had received a phone call from an unknown male who said they were being investigated for prostitution and needed to pay a $10,000 bond in lieu of being arrested. The employee did not pay any money and blocked the number.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A loss prevention officer from a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported that at 3:09 p.m. March 24, a male and female stole approximately $1,300 worth of alcohol.
  • An employee of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported that at 7 p.m. March 25, three men filled up two shopping carts with multiple bottles of Tequila and left the store passed the last point of purchase.
  • An employee of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road called police at 3:42 p.m. March 27, to report two men filled a shopping cart with various items. One man distracted a store employee while the other subject slipped four bottles of wine into his coat. Both men ditched the shopping cart full of items and left the store with the bottles of wine.
  • A manager of a business in the 3300 block of Glenview Road reported at 5:25 p.m. March 27, a male had run out of the store with a hand basket full of alcohol.
  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive called police at 8:20 p.m. March 30, to report a man stole a shirt valued at $120. Employees confronted the man as he entered a black Nissan sedan. The man dropped the shirt and fled in the Nissan occupied by 2 other males.

ATTEMPTED RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road called police at 2:15 p.m. March 26, to report two men filled up a shopping cart with multiple bottles of tequila. The employee saw this behavior on the security cameras and called on the loudspeaker for security to respond to the front of the store. The suspects abandoned the cart and left the store.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

An employee of a business in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 3:52 p.m. March 26, to report someone shattered the back window of their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

A Chicago resident was cited at 9:48 p.m. March 26, for driving while license suspended, driving without lights when required, following a traffic stop in the 700 block of Waukegan Road. They were street booked and released, with a follow-up court date set for April 18.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 2000 block of Johns Drive reported at 9:05 a.m. March 27, a recently terminated employee sent threatening text messages.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A manager of a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 12:40 p.m. March 27, to report a male entered the store and purchased three bottles of Patron tequila using a barcode on his phone. The manager believed the barcode was fraudulent because after the transaction went through, the male asked to purchase all the Patron the store had in stock.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 400 block of Lotus Lane called police to report that between noon and 2:30 p.m. March 27, someone attempted to enter their residence by prying the front doorknob.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of Golfview Lane reported at 8:36 a.m. March 31, someone had smashed the front passenger window of their vehicle, which was parked on the driveway and locked. The overhead garage door had been opened and two vehicles in the garage had their doors ajar. They did not find anything missing from the vehicles.
  • A resident in the 800 block of Lenox Road reported at 3:55 a.m. March 31, three people had entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway, then used the garage door opener to open the overhead door. Two of them entered the garage and rummaged through another vehicle parked inside. All three were seen running toward a vehicle on Lenox and leaving southbound.

TRESPASS WARNING

Police responded to a business in the 2200 block of Sanders Road at 6:50 p.m. March 28, for reports of numerous individuals inside the building. Officers located several males sitting in the parking lot, flying their personal drones. All were given trespass warnings from the property.

IDENTITY THEFT

A resident in the 1800 block of Culver Lane reported at 9:43 a.m. March 29, someone had opened a Verizon Wireless account using their personal information. Total loss was $520.80.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 2000 block of Parkview Road called police to report that between March 25 and March 29, someone stole two air conditioners units from the house. Total loss is $10,000.
  • A Chicago resident reported their front license plate had been stolen at 4:10 p.m. March 30, while they were shopping at Mariano’s, 25 Waukegan Road.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A resident in the 900 block of Raleigh Road reported at 5:17 a.m. March 31, their Land Rover Range Rover had been stolen from the driveway. Those responsible were also seen driving a black Mercedes S-class, no plate, during the incident. Officers located the vehicle being driven southbound from the residence, then onto southbound I-94.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 600 block of Glenayre Drive reported at 12:36 p.m. March 31, two vehicles had been entered overnight. A notification was sent notifying them that the garage was being opened at 4:33 a.m. The garage was left half open and they are not sure if it was entered. Nothing appeared to be missing.
  • A resident in the 2400 block of Swainwood Drive called police at 4:36 a.m. March 31, to report someone had entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. They were woken up by the sound of the garage door opening and saw a red coupe style vehicle driving eastbound from the residence. Nothing appeared to be missing.
