GLENVIEW, IL — The family of a 4-year-old Zion boy who drowned in a Glenview hotel pool earlier this month is asking for help to pay for his home-going service. Carter Patterson died last Tuesday, three days after he had been found unresponsive at the Renaissance Chicago Glenview Suites Hotel. The Cook County Medical Examiner ruled his death an accidental drowning.

Now, the family is seeking help from the public for future funeral expenses and have started a GoFundMe campaign.

"We are currently going through the hardest thing anyone has ever had to deal with in their life," Melanie Neal wrote on the fundraiser she created. "We are completely shook and lost for words and appreciate all the love and support we have been receiving."

The family is hoping to raise $10,000 for a home-going service. As of Monday afternoon, the campaign, which was started Sunday, has raised $360 in that effort.

"At the time we do wish that if anyone could help out with any sort of donation for his home going service we would really appreciate it," Neal said.
