GLENVIEW, IL — Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday have come and gone, but Lent continues with the return of fish fry season. Plenty of local spots are frying up fish for those looking to abstain from meat on Fridays beginning Feb. 19, or just looking to enjoy a good meal.

Beer-battered cod ($18), served with french fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce, is available on the to-go grill menu. All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry returned to the Grill Feb. 17 for Ash Wednesday and will take place every Friday through April.

Fish Fry Friday includes all the fresh Basa fish you can eat for $14.95. The special comes with New England Clam Chowder or salad and your choice of a side dish. It's available every Friday after 5 p.m.


Hackney's on Lake

1514 E Lake Ave., Glenview

The fish & chips ($15.95) features tender cod fillets with a crispy batter breading.


John's Garage and Sports Bar

1800 Tower Drive, Glenview

The Guinness Fish & Chips ($15 special every Friday through Easter) features cod dipped in the restaurant's famous Guinness batter fried to perfection. Served with steak fries, coleslaw and homemade tartar sauce.


Marcello's Father and Son

1911 Cherry Lane, Northbrook

The Friday Fish Fry ($16.95) features three pieces of batter-dipped fried cod served with homemade tartar sauce or Buffalo sauce, includes creamy coleslaw and choice of one side dish.


Prairie Grass Café

601 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook

The crispy-breaded wild striped bass ($36) includes pomegranate-pumpkin seed-apple slaw, potato wedges, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce for dine-in and to-go orders.


Deerfield Italian Kitchen

648 Deerfield Road, Deerfield
The Lent Special ($18.99/$19.99) at Deerfield Italian Kitchen includes Canadian lake perch and wild caught Icelandic cod, served with fried potatoes. Limited availability.


The Chatter Box of Long Grove

330 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove
The fish & chips ($18.25) dish features beer-battered cod served with a tequila lime cocktail and lemon dill tartar sauces.


Deerfield Golf Club

1201 Saunders Road, Riverwoods

The Friday Fish Fry began Feb. 12 with 5:15 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. seatings. Maximum of six guests per table and 25 guests per seating. Reservations are mandatory. No walk-ins allowed. Pre-paid online to-go orders required by 12 p.m. for same day orders. Pickups available from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.


Eddie's of Arlington

10 East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights
Dine-in our take-out is available every day at Eddie's. Ocean perch with fries or tots is all-you-can-eat for $12.50 on Wednesdays and Fridays.


Peggy Kinnane's Irish Restaurant & Pub

8 N Vail Ave., Arlington Heights

Kinnane's Famous Fish N' Chips ($18.95), according to the menu, features a fresh heaping of Alaskan cod fillets dipped in the restaurant's special recipe Guinness beer batter, served traditionally with Irish "chips," Killarney sauce and coleslaw.


Scratchboard Kitchen

5 W Campbell St., Arlington Heights
Scratchboard Kitchen is offering a fish fry on Feb. 19, according to its menu, with fried cod dredged in buttermilk and flour, served with creamy black garlic dipping sauce (on the side), barley stewed with tomato and mushrooms, Acorn squash with a citrus glaze, topped with pine nuts and herbs. Order online and it will be available for pickup.


The Arboretum Club

401 West Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove
All-you-can-eat fish fry every Friday ($10.95) is open year-round from 5-8 p.m.


Prairie House Tavern

2710 N Main St., Buffalo Grove
The fish fry returned on Feb. 17 and is available every Friday. Dine in the heated patio, carry-out or delivery.


Kilcoyne's Redwoods Inn

342 N Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling
The fish fry is served with seasoned red potatoes, mixed veggies, homemade coleslaw, and a dinner roll. Limited indoor seating and curbside pick up available.
