GLENVIEW, IL — Like so many North Shore residents and people around the world, Kathleen Karowsky has been moved by the story of Cooper Roberts, the Highland Park 8-year-old seriously injured in the July 4 parade mass shooting.

The owner of Glenview's Whiskey River Bar & Grill will be fundraising for Roberts and his family with a special event planned for Oct. 16 at the 1850 Waukegan Road establishment.

"I decided to do this because we do a fundraiser every year, usually for St. Jude's. But after this happened and seeing him on TV, he just kinda grabbed at my heart. I thought let's help a local family out," Karowsky told Patch. "We have been promoting this pretty good and anticipate a big crowd."
