Glenview House Closes Gastropub After 12 Years In Historic Building

GLENVIEW, IL — The gastropub at the historic Glenview House permanently closed on Monday, according to the restaurant's website. A note from the current management team thanked the community for a "great 12 years."

Glenview House, originally established as a tavern in 1878 at 1843 Glenview Road, went through extensive renovations in 2010.

"Please continue to follow Glenview House for updates on future developments," the post, which also appeared on its Facebook page, concludes.

The restaurant featured locally sourced and upscale American comfort food with French, Italian, and Asian influences. Craft beer, wine and whiskey-infused specialty cocktails were also available at a Prohibition Era-style bar with a fireplace.

"The Glenview House has a history inseparably intertwined with the history of Glenview. A place for people in the community to hold meetings, dances, services, and even classes,"a post on its website reads. "The tavern changed hands over time, but has always been a place where friends could get together for drinks and excellent food."
