Glenview Resident, Dog Earn Trip To National Athletic Competition

ST. LOUIS — Han Yu, of Glenview, and her miniature poodle, Skye, recently took first prize in the 30-Weave competition at the 25th annual Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge Eastern Regionals in Atlanta.

With their victory, Yu and Skye earned the right to compete against the country’s elite canine athletes at the Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals this fall at Purina Farms in St. Louis. The field of competitors in Atlanta represented 19 states and provinces across North America.

The 25th annual Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge features three events. Winners from the Eastern and Western Regional Finals (hosted next week in Huntington Beach, California) will convene at Purina Farms in St. Louis this fall for the National Finals of the family-friendly canine competition.

Skye is an accomplished canine athlete, earning top prizes at the 2021 AKC National Standard Premier and a second-place finish at the 2021 UKI U.S. Open Games Challenge. She is also a member of Team USA competing in this summer’s 2022 European Open.

The Incredible Dog Challenge is the premier canine athletic competition and features an array of dog breeds competing in several events, including high-flying disc routines, head-to-head weave pole racing, large medium and small dog agility courses, and a dog diving category where canines take a running leap off a 40-foot dock into a more than 20,000-gallon pool of water.
