IDOT: Willow Road in Glenview to start Repaving Soon (Spring 2023)

On March 10, 2023 the Illinois Department of Transportation 'IDOT' will award (aka let) a contract for the following project in Glenvieew and Northbrook:

(2.89 -Mile) 3P SMART overlay project on Willow Rd from Landwehr Rd to west of IL 43. Located in the Villages of Glenview and Northbrook in Cook County.

Willow Road is a four-lane principal arterial roadway located in the Villages of Northbrook and Glenview, Cook County. The west terminus is the intersection with Landwehr Road. The east terminus is 0.19 miles west of the intersection with IL Route 43 (Waukegan Road). The project has a gross length of 15,276 feet (2.89 miles) and net length of 11,596 feet (2.20 miles). The Willow Road corridors under the jurisdiction of District 1 of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

This is a SMART overlay project in which the work to be performed under this contract includes hot-mix asphalt surface removal, pavement patching, resurfacing with hot-mix asphalt surface course, drainage structures adjustment and cleaning, placement of pavement markings, installation of raised reflective pavement markers, ADA ramps, pedestrian signals, detector loops, and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans and described therein. The existing pavement is hot-mix asphalt and portland cement concrete pavement.

Scope of Work (partial)

  • HOT -MIX ASPHALT BINDER AND SURFACE COURSE
  • CLEANING EXISTING DRAINAGE STRUCTURES
  • DRAINAGE AND INLET PROTECTION UNDER TRAFFIC
  • CURB OR COMBINATION CURB AND GUTTER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
  • ENGINEER'S FIELD OFFICE TYPE A
  • TEMPORARY INFORMATION SIGNING
  • KEEPING ARTERIAL ROADWAYS OPEN TO TRAFFIC (LANE CLOSURES ONLY)
    • Arterial lane closures not shown in the staging plans will not be permitted during peak traffic volume hours
      • 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM eastbound and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM westbound (M-F)
      • Should the Contractor fail to completely open and keep open all the traffic lanes to traffic in accordance with the limitations specified above, the Contractor shall be liable to the Department for the amount of:
        • One lane or ramp blocked = $ 1,000
        • Two lanes blocked = $ 2,500
        • Note: Each and every 15 minute interval or a portion thereof that a lane is blocked outside the allowable time limitations

  • LED INTERNALLY ILLUMINATED STREET NAME SIGN
  • ADA RAMP IMPROVEMENTS
