GLENVIEW, IL — As the popularity of pickleball continues to soar, residents will soon have a chance to swing their rackets at a new facility. On Tuesday night, the Glenview Village Board approved an ordinance for a conditional use permit for an indoor pickleball and racquet sports club at 2105 Johns Court, just west of the Loyola Academy Athletic Campus.

Pickleball4All, represented at the meeting by applicant Rozel Elazegui, is looking to build seven pickleball courts at the property. The property was annexed in its current condition to the Village of Glenview in 1978. According to the meeting's agenda, the property was developed prior to annexation in unincorporated Cook County.

The move to approve the ordinance by the Village Board follows similar action last month by the Glenview Development Commission — Development Adjustments.

"I think it's an excellent use there, a wonderful place for pickleball because it's not a noise issue and it's all contained," Trustee Tim Doron said.

Jeff Brady, director of community development, said three full-time employees and two part-time employees would work at the facility. Proposed hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekends.

In addition, courts would regularly accommodate between two and four players, while tournaments would be able to accommodate 32 players. Both formats would comply with parking requirements, according to Brady.

Elazegui said the facility will have club options, but it will also be open to the public. Professionals and certified coaches will be on site with lessons available.

The facility would be located near the Loyola Academy Sports Complex. (Village of Glenview)
