North Shore Memorial Day Weekend Weather Forecast

If AccuWeather predictions are right, outdoor celebrations may be better earlier rather than later.

If you have a four-day weekend coming up for the Memorial Day holiday, congratulations. You will have two days of nice weather to go with a pair of duds. For those of us with the traditional three-day off period, two-thirds of it is likely to make it bittersweet.

The weekend forecast on Chicago’s North Shore calls for sun and warmth on Friday and Saturday and clouds and rain for Sunday and Monday, just in time for when many plan their summer kickoff barbecue parties.

According to the AccuWeather forecast for Northfield (a centralized location on the Shore), Friday’s high is 64, but will feel like 72 with a “brilliant sunshine.” It could get partly cloudy and cool at night with a low of 45.

If you are planning something outdoors, which you likely are, Saturday is the optimal day to do it. A high of 74 could rise with some sun and clouds later on. A stray shower is possible much later, with a night low of 56.

Things start to turn muggy on Sunday, however. Scattered thunderstorms and showers will go with a high of 75 and low of 63. The chance of rain at night is 65 percent.

The forecast won’t get much better for the Monday holiday. Early indications are we could see more thunderstorms with clouds blocking the sun all day. The high will be 78 and a low of 65, with less than a 50 percent chance of rain that night.
