NSYMCA Welcomes artist Maddie Sadlowski-Van Horn to their Gallery

Art for sale and a portion of the proceeds benefit the NSYMCA Visual Arts

Northbrook, IL: April 2024 – North Suburban YMCA’s Community Gallery is showcasing artist Maddie Sadlowski-Van Horn during the month of July where she is exhibiting her work on nature. All of the items featured will be for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Visual Arts department of the NSYMCA.

Maddie Sadlowski-Van Horn began her formal art education in High School and then pursued a degree in painting and received her bachelor’s from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Sadlowski-Van Horn furthered her education in printmaking and illustration from the Academy of Art in Chicago.

Sadlowski-Van Horn’s work includes public murals, gallery showings and commissioned custom artwork and portraits. Using strong drawing skills and oil paints, Sadlowski-Van Horn works the “entire canvas”, contrasting light to dark forms, in order to get a balanced composition.

“My inspiration for my work is nature itself,” says Sadlowski-Van Horn. “The feelings I have towards it, which I record with photographs I take myself,” continues Sadlowski-Van Horn. “Something intrigues me inside about the beauty and mystery in nature, knowing it is the Creators handiwork!

Sadlowski-Van Horn was born in Wyomissing, PA, but has spent most of her life in Glen Ellyn, IL and now lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

The NSYMCA’s Community Art Gallery celebrates the diversely talented artists living and working in Chicago’s northern suburbs with monthly exhibits and pop-ups that are free and open to the public.
