GLENVIEW, IL — Two new restaurants are coming to downtown Glenview. At last week's Village Board meeting, trustees approved redevelopment agreements at the properties. Officials said the openings are the "latest milestone in the ongoing revitalization" of downtown.

The restaurants, part of five that have been approved this year, are Hometown Coffee & Juice and The Foxtail Glenview House. The others are Jackman & Co. and Zenzi Den, along with a new spot in the northwest corner of Grove and Waukegan.

"There is so much momentum in our Downtown right now," said Michael Jenny, village president. "More activation in the Downtown benefits everyone, and we look forward to working with our new and existing business owners on a Downtown we can all be proud of."

Hometown Coffee & Juice, which has locations in Glencoe, Lake Forest and Winnetka, is described as a café and gathering place that features a menu of freshly brewed coffee, pastries and smoothie bowls. It will be located at 1869 Grove Street, across from the Downtown Metra station.

Hometown Coffee & Juice and the property owner will receive a $500,000 grant from the Village to demolish an industrial building, add surface parking and outdoor dining amenities, in addition to remodeling of the tenant space.

The Foxtail Glenview House, at 1843 Glenview Road, will be the third location of the popular Mediterranean restaurants, joining those already in business in Des Plaines and Downers Grove. Officials said The Foxtail will preserve the name and history associated with the iconic Glenview House, where the Village's charter was adopted and signed in 1899.

Foxtail will receive a $1.4 million grant and $1.5 million loan from the Village to rehab the building and make critical updates to the kitchen and dining areas.
