Woman Steals 93 Bottles Of Alcohol From Store: Glenview Police Blotter

The stolen alcohol was valued at nearly $4,000, according to police.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Steve Czosnyka, 36, of the 200 block of Nora Avenue, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 12:19 p.m. July 26, at his home following an investigation into an incident that occurred earlier in the day, in front of the house. Czosnyka was released and assigned a court date of Sept. 11.

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Wildberry Drive resident reported at 2:34 p.m. July 23, someone had opened up 10 Goldman Sachs accounts in their name between June 1 and June 30. Total loss was $1.40.
  • The security manager of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported July 27 that on June 25, the store received an order by phone for a microwave, stove, and refrigerator. The order, placed in the name of a resident in the 1700 block of N. Fairfield Avenue, Chicago, and was paid for with a credit card. At 4:55 p.m. that day, an unknown black male, 50 to 60 years old, 200 to 225 pounds, picked up the items while driving a Ford Cutaway van. On July 10, the credit card charge for the items were reversed due to the card owner saying they did not make the purchase. Estimated loss is $3,937.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

Police found graffiti at 7:39 p.m. July 23, in the 2700 block of Aviator Lane. The graffiti was described as a "smiley face" and the letters "x, L and X" in blue and black paint. It is unknown when this occurred.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident of the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported that someone had stolen their car between July 23 and July 24. The vehicle was later used in a July 24 burglary in Palatine.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 300 block of Rollwind Road called police on July 24 to report two laptops (Dell and Apple) had been taken, along with a blue Jansport backpack, sometime after 5 p.m. the previous day. The laptops were left on the counter inside the residence and the doors were unlocked to the house. Value for the computers is $1,400.
  • A resident of the 2000 block of Avalon Court reported on July 27 several items had gone missing from their home beginning on around May 1. The missing items include antique bowls, jewelry, clothing, and other miscellaneous items totaling approximately $12,400. There were no signs of forced entry, and no suspect information could be provided.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

  • A Dunhill Circle resident reported at 1:06 p.m. July 24, withdrawing $1,000 dollars and $1,000 Euros from Chase Bank and then drove to a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan. They placed the currency envelope in their center console and left their vehicle. When they returned to the vehicle five minutes later, they saw the rear driver's side window broken and the currency envelope missing.
  • A Des Plaines resident reported at 6:48 p.m. July 24, someone had broken the rear driver’s side window while their vehicle was parked at a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They said a Louis Vuitton purse along with several other personal documents and credit cards were taken, approximate loss value $2,500.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road called police at 6:26 p.m. July 24, to report a male had grabbed a bottle of Jack Daniels valued at $22.99 off the shelf and walked past the last point of purchase without paying. The person got into a blue Ford Expedition and fled in an unknown direction.

THEFT

  • Residents of Dell Place called police at 6:37 p.m. July 24, to report buying a car through a friend on Facebook Marketplace, which turned out to be hacked. The person pretending to be the friend on Facebook requested money to be sent through emails. They sent $2,000 total and were suspicious when their "friend" on Facebook stopped responding. They called their friend on the phone and were told the account was hacked. They were able to get $1,000 back from the bank.
  • An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 3:55 p.m. July 27, that two days earlier, an unknown female took 93 bottles of alcohol, valued at $3,905.07, and left the business without paying. The suspect is described as between 23 and 28 years old, wearing black shoes, shirt, and pants, while carrying a black backpack.
  • A Highland Park resident reported on July 27 that while attending the Glenview Art League Summer Fair, 1900 Tower Drive, they made a purchase at around 11:45 a.m., then went to two other stores. While at another store, they noticed their purse with all its contents were missing. The victim later noticed two purchases were attempted at 2:05 p.m. and 2:06 p.m. for the amounts of $2,397.10 and $1,000.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident of the 1500 block of Huntington Drive reported at 6:49 p.m. July 24, an attempted theft of their vehicle. They saw two unknown people walk up the driveway at 4 a.m. July 24, and check the rear of the vehicle. They walked away and then re-entered a white Ford Explorer and left the area.

TRESPASS WARNING

  • Employees of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road requested at 4:03 p.m. July 25, police trespass people begging for money outside the business. Officers made contact with the people and all three were asked to leave the property, being issued a trespass warning.
  • A business in the 0 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:08 a.m. July 29, someone inside the business causing a disturbance. They have a history at the store for returning items fraudulently. They were denied any transactions at the store and left prior to police arrival. They were located near Golf Road and Waukegan Road and denied any wrongdoing. They were given a trespass warning not to return.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A Des Plaines resident reported at 6:59 p.m. July 27, their car was egged while it was parked in the 1100 block of Castilian Court. The victim suspects a neighbor due to prior incidents with them.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident of the 2200 block of Strawberry Lane reported on July 28 that at 10:30 a.m. the prior day, windows had been damaged on their residence. They appeared to have been hit with a BB pellet. Estimated damage value $2,000.

TRESPASSING

Security for a vacant building in the 2220 block of Sanders Road reported at 12:26 a.m. July 30, several people inside the building that could be seen on surveillance cameras. Officers located several people, who were each issued a village ordinance citation for criminal trespass and were released.
