GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Scott T. Holmes, 38, of the 4000 block of Amalfi Drive, Glenview, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 6:06 a.m. July 12, in the 100 block of Park Drive. They were released and assigned a court date of Aug. 13.

Yaswanth Akkala, 26, of the 400 block of E. Circle Hill Drive, Arlington Heights, had a warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 11:47 p.m. July 13, in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released and assigned a court date of Aug. 20.

INCIDENTS

TRESPASS WARNING

  • Employees of a business in the 1200 block of Willow Road reported at 2:45 p.m. July 9, a homeless person digging through the garbage can located outside the restaurant. The person yelled profanities at the employees and threw garbage on the ground, before leaving on foot. Officers gave them a trespass warning not to return.
  • An HOA representative for a residence in the 1600 block of Glenview Road reported at 3:57 p.m. July 9, seeing male on security video entering the pool area. He is believed to be the boyfriend of a former resident. The person used a key to enter the pool. He requested a trespass warning be issued and the keys returned for the person once he is identified.

THEFT

A Parkside Circle resident reported at 3:13 p.m. July 9, they had received a phone call from the Glenview Police Department in which the male caller told them that they had missed their court appointment and were subject to civil or criminal actions. They chose to move forward with the civil route and he told them it was a $7,000 fine. He also told them there was a gag order put in place so they could not speak with anyone about the incident. They were instructed to go to a business in Des Plaines to deposit the money in the Coinstar machine, while the subject stayed on the phone with them. They complied and sent the money. He then told them to go to the Glenview Police Department for a signature verification, which they did and were then told they were scammed.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • A resident in the 3900 block of Chester Drive called police on July 9, to report kitchen window damaged by a possible bb pellet sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The window faces into the backyard. All neighbors denied involvement.
  • A Waukegan Road resident called police at 2:17 p.m. July 10, to report using an Enterprise Rental Vehicle. They thought they parked in a visitor spot in the parking garage for the building, but inadvertently parked in someone’s assigned space. When they returned to the vehicle, there were key scratch marks on the vehicle, along with the writing “it my place!!”

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 1800 block of Camden Drive reported on July 10 that on the previous day, security footage showed unknown people had went up the driveway and pulled on car doors, but they were locked. They then went next door and entered the attached garage. The homeowner received a notification their vehicle doors were open. They also found the garage door opener on the ground outside their vehicle. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle.
  • A resident in the 2000 block of Shermer Road reported that between 10:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 12, someone had pried open the rear door of the residence and ransacked the entire house. They reported jewelry and U.S. currency was taken during the burglary with the total loss estimated at $17,800.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 1:28 p.m. July 10, four unknown women had entered the store and went to the women’s Nike section of the store. They took several items of clothing and left the store without paying for approximately $600 worth of merchandise. They left in a vehicle that registers out of Chicago.
  • An employee of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road, reported at 10:05 a.m. July 12, a male had walked into the store and started to eat donuts and drink beer without paying for the items. The employee did not wish to sign complaints but wanted officers to issue a trespass warning to him. He was located outside the business and warned not to return to the business.

INFORMATION FOR THE POLICE

  • A Northbrook resident reported at 4:19 p.m. July 10, parking their vehicle at a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard. A large vehicle parked behind theirs and a male approached them, offering to fix their dislodged bumper. They agreed on a $200 price. When they returned to their vehicle, the male said he hurt his back while working on the car and now was asking for $400. They said the male was aggressive with the negotiation, and they agreed on $260. They sent the money via Venmo.
  • A Larkdale Drive resident reported that at 1:56 p.m. July 11, they had received a phone call from a number that said "Village of Glenview" and a person that had identified themselves as a sergeant. He informed them that they failed to respond to a federal subpoena and appear to federal jury duty. He attempted to have them obtain a cashier’s check and respond to Village Hall. This was recognized to be a scam and they discontinued conversation.
  • An Elm Street resident reported at 4:39 p.m. July 11, they head received a call from someone saying they were a Glenview police officer. They were told they had failed to respond to a federal subpoena and failed to appear for federal jury duty. They were told they needed to respond to the department for a signature verification and to bring a cashier’s check. They recognized this as a scam and refused to comply.
  • A Terrace Lane resident reported at 4:32 p.m. July 11, they had been receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be with the Glenview Police Department. They accused them of buying pseudoephedrine and hydrochloric acid online. They said the DEA shutdown the shipment and reported the incident to Homeland Security Investigations, who opened a case against them. The caller provided them with their full name, address, and the full credit card number of a card that had not yet been activated.

INTIMIDATION

A Bette Lane resident reported at 10:07 p.m. July 10, communicating with someone on the Tinder app. The person told them that they would show them how to invest money and instructed them to open a cryptocurrency account. They then had them transfer money to a joint cryptocurrency account they created in both their names, which they sent a copy of their driver’s license in order for them to open it. The person put $1,300 in the app and the complainant transferred in $500. They realized it was a scam and removed all the money to their single account, including the person’s $1,300. The person threatened to kill them if they did not give back the money within one day.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

  • A Michigan resident reported someone had stolen the catalytic converter from their car between July 10 and July 11 from a parking lot of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
  • A Homewood resident called police to report that between July 10 and July 11, someone had stolen the catalytic converter from their vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
  • A Matteson resident reported that between July 10 and July 11, someone had stolen the catalytic converter from their vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

DISPUTE

A Buffalo Grove resident reported at 5:23 p.m. July 11, a co-worker had engaged in unacceptable conduct while at work. They were both working as lobby greeters when the co-worker, without notice or provocation, performed a “roundhouse kick,” coming close to their face. When officers questioned them of this, they stated they meant no harm and were trying to lighten up their apparent “down” mood.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

A Des Plaines resident reported at 7:56 p.m. July 11, someone had defaced the bathroom of a business in the 400 block of Glenview Rd. A black sharpie was used to draw a face with a crown and the letters “BCP” and “KING” next to it. The drawings were painted over prior to police arrival, but pictures were provided.

CANNABIS POSSESSION

A Chicato resident was cited at 11:07 p.m. July 11 for possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis after a traffic stop in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue for a registration offense. A cannabis oil pen and grinder were confiscated and they were also charged with improper use of registration and no rear registration plate light.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Kittyhawk Lane resident reported at 4:52 p.m. July 12, two people had entered a Fifth Third Bank branch in Trotwood, Ohio, and opened an account under their name. The offenders were able to transfer $60,000 from their existing Fifth ThirdBank accounts into the fraudulent account.

BATTERY

A Northbrook resident reported at 7:41 p.m. July 13, being battered by a homeless person. They said they were taking out the trash from a business in the 4200 block of Commercial Way when the person approached them and asked why they were staring at them. The person then started punching them in the face. They defended themselves and swept the person’s legs from under them, causing them to hit the concrete and injure their nose and mouth. The person was taken to Glenbrook Hospital for injuries and intoxication.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee of a business in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 5:51 p.m. July 15, a woman had entered the store and reportedly said, "I'm going to shoot you just like they did to Trump." The female had been in the drive-thru and was upset because her order was taking too long. The female entered a vehicle and left the area.
