Coroner IDs Grayslake Woman Killed In Gurnee Collision

The collision happened Tuesday morning on Route 41 and Delany Road.

GURNEE, IL — A 64-year-old Grayslake woman who was killed after her car was hit by a semi-truck on Route 41 in Gurnee Tuesday morning has been identified as Sandra Booker.

Results from an autopsy show Booker died from blunt force injuries as a result of the collision Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The crash happened when a Honda sedan, driven by Cooper, was headed south on Route 41, positioned to turn left onto northbound Delany Road, but instead left the turn lane and entered back into the southbound lanes of traffic on 41, according to police.

The sedan was then hit by a semi that was also traveling south at about 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the news release. The force of the collision pushed the sedan through the intersection and into a pole.

Booker was extricated from her sedan and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

The crash remains under investigation by the Gurnee Police Department and Major Crash Assistance Team.
