Police Shoot, Kill Armed Man at Highland Park Hospital (Update)

No one else was hurt after Christopher M Anderson, 27, of Waukegan, drew a handgun at the hospital early Monday morning, police report.

UPDATE (5:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3)—The Lake County Coroner’s office identified the 27-year-old Waukegan man who was shot in killed by police Monday at Highland Park Hospital as Christopher M. Anderson.

Police shot and killed an armed man at the Highland Park Hospital early Monday morning, according to reports.

The 27-year-old Waukegan man had been brought to the hospital after an accident Saturday night on Route 94, near Lake Cook Road, the report stated. The man and a minor were passengers in the car of a driver who was arrested by State Police for driving under the influence, the report stated.

At about 1:30 a.m., Highland Park police were called to help deal with the Waukegan man, who had begun acting aggressively with hospital staff, the report stated. The man then drew a handgun, and when he refused to drop the weapon, officers shot and killed him, the report stated, adding that no one else was injured.

The identity of the Waukegan man was not immediately released by authorities.

The shooting is being investigated by the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, a team made up of law enforcement agencies, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County State’s Attorney Office and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
