Hinsdale Little League Clinches Championship, Heads To World Series

HINSDALE, IL – In a heart-stopping finish, the Hinsdale Little League 12U All-Stars clinched the Great Lakes Regional Championship on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, securing their spot in the Little League World Series, according to a team news release.

The young team battled their way to the regional final, showcasing remarkable teamwork and resilience. The championship game, a nail-biter against Indiana, went into extra innings with Hinsdale ultimately triumphing 8-7 in eight innings, the team said.

The team's road to Williamsport has been filled with both challenges and triumphs. After dominating their district tournament, the boys faced stiffer competition at the state level but still managed to emerge victorious, fueled by their unwavering determination. That determination has been the foundation on which they have delivered two comeback victories in a row, the semifinal victory against KY also secured with a final inning comeback and an extra-inning walk off double.

"These kids have a special bond," said Coach Chad Wanless in the news release. "They've put in countless hours of practice, and their dedication has paid off. They never give up, they always play for each other, and they truly love this game. The experience at the Great Lakes Regional was exceptional for this group; they are having fun and trying to make Hinsdale proud."
