Willowbrook Woman Wins $50,000 Powerball Prize

She bought her winning ticket in Westmont.

WILLOWBROOK, IL — A Willowbrook resident who won a $50,000 Powerball prize said she plans to invest the money and donate to her favorite charities.

Consuelo Mendez, a 35-year resident of Willowbrook, bought a winning ticket that matched four numbers and the Powerball number in the July 30 drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winning numbers were 11 – 17 - 21 - 23 - 32 – and the Powerball number was 5.

“It has always been very important to me that I give to charities and now I believe that if you give, you get,” Mendez said.

She bought her winning ticket at Speedway, 6241 South Cass Ave. in Westmont. Speedway received a bonus of $500, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
