Mayor D'Arcy Sets Press Conference To Address Kids Vaping In Joliet

JOLIET —The city of Joliet issued a press release on Friday advising that Mayor Terry D’Arcy, Police Chief Bill Evans, Joliet Township High School District 204 Superintendent Karla J. Guseman, School Board President Michelle Stiff, Joliet District 86 Superintendent of Schools Theresa R. Rouse and a host of others will attend a press conference on Tuesday morning at the Joliet City Hall's second floor Council Chambers.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and the media advisory indicates that city of Joliet leaders and health officials will discuss the findings of police details and Joliet businesses selling vaping products to underage children.

According to the media advisory: "Since taking office, D’Arcy began holding license holders accountable for the sale of nicotine products to minors in the way of fines and suspension of licenses with increasing penalties for multiple violations. Attention to the problems associated with underage access to vaping materials came after the concern was raised at a Joliet Township High School Board of Education meeting."
