She will be remembered for her passion and love of organ music.

Norma passed away from her earthly life on Wednesday evening, August 7, 2024, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County, age 94, and entered into the eternal presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Norma was born in Joliet on October 17, 1929, and was a lifelong Joliet resident in the city that she loved.

Mrs. Peters was a graduate of Joliet Township High School class of 1947 and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Norma was a member of the Joliet Area Theater Organ Enthusiasts, Chicagoland Theatre Organ Society, St Louis Theatre Organ Society, and the American Theater Organ Society. She traveled from 1984 to 2021 with her nephew, Don Walker across the US to attend many organ conventions and concert events, making numerous friends along the way. Besides organ music, Norma loved her husband, her family, country music, traveling, animals, and her country.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward J. Peters (1979), former Joliet Fire Chief; parents, Harold R. and Sylvia (Hodgson) Walker; two brothers, Harold Walker, Jr., Raymond H. Walker, and sister-in-law, Kay "Kiko" Walker, and sister-in-law Geraldine (late James) Egan of Lombard.

Surviving are two brothers, James R. Walker and Donald L. (Bernice J.) Walker; dear aunt of Donald M. Walker, Jeanne L. (Kevin) Forkal, John R. Walker, Terrance (Kathleen) Egan, Jeanine (Robert "Chuck") Weilmuenster.

Visitation for Norma L. Peters will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the funeral home with visitation resuming at 10 a.m. and services to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Odis Weaver officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
