JOLIET — Back in 2022, the Joliet Police Department investigated two separate homicides that resulted in first-degree murder charges being filed against people who are accused of using their automobile as a weapon, ending the lives of the victim. This week, Joliet police investigated another crime involving an automobile used as a weapon, but this time, the victim survived.

As a result of the incident, 26-year-old Marion Street resident, Janasia Gray, now finds herself in the Will County Jail, where she's charged with aggravated domestic battery.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 11:27 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 300 block of Bluff Street for a disturbance. At the scene, the Joliet police learned that Gray had struck the father of her child with her vehicle, police said.

According to English, during an argument, Gray drove toward her child’s father, causing him to jump and strike the windshield with his upper body. Gray then left the area in the vehicle, English added.

The victim was rushed to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries.
