Semi-Trailer Permit Fees May More-Than Double In Will County

In the first local fee increase in 16 years, Will County officials are pushing to more-than double permit costs for overweight trucks.

WILL COUNTY, IL -- In the first local fee increase in 16 years, Will County officials are pushing to more-than double permit costs for overweight trucks.

The hike — from $20 to $50 for a single trip by trucks weighing up to 100,000 pounds — will also come with an online application process and updated truck routes, according to a Transport Topics report.

A board committee has already OKed the move, which goes before the full board on Feb. 15. If given the green light, the new permitting system would go into effect in early March.
