Snow Day: Mokena School Closures Feb. 9

MOKENA, IL -- Heavy snowfall throughout the Chicago-area has spurred widespread school closures on Friday — And Mokena is no exception.

The following list comprises local districts' announcements to parents:

Mokena District 159

All schools are closed on Friday, Feb. 9 due to inclement weather.

Frankfort District 157C

Due to the weather conditions, Grand Prairie Elementary, Chelsea Intermediate, Hickory Creek Middle School and the district's offices will be closed on Friday, Feb. 9.

New Lenox District 122

Due to the inclement weather that is predicted to bring hazardous conditions to the area, there will be no school or school related activities held on Friday, Feb. 9.

For families who utilize the Park District ACES Program, ACES will be held at the Lion's Community Center, located at 1 Manor Drive. Please visit their website at newlenoxparks.org for verification.

Summit Hill District 161

All schools in Summit Hill District 161 are closed on Friday, Feb. 9 due to inclement weather. All evening activities are also canceled.

Lincoln-Way High School District 210

All Lincoln-Way High School District 210 schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 9 due to the weather.

St. Mary Catholic School

Due to the predicted weather forecast of a Chicago snowstorm, St. Mary School will be closed on Friday, Feb. 9.
