Naperville's Annual 'Great American Campout'

Families will camp in Greene Valley Forest Preserve's campground and enjoy archery, a scavenger hunt, campfires and a guided night hike.

NAPERVILLE, IL - Naperville's Great American Campout will take place at the Greene Valley Forest Preserve June 24 from 1 p.m. to June 25 at 11 a.m. It's part of the The National Wildlife Federation’s summer-long celebration of camping as a way to connect with nature and wildlife.

Families will camp in the forest preserve's Thunderbird youth-group campground, which includes wooded and semi-wooded sites. The campout will feature games, archery, a scavenger hunt, evening nature programs, a guided night hike and an egg-drop contest. Dinner, s'mores by the campfire and a continental breakfast are also included.

Registration is open until June 19 and families should plan to bring their own tents and camping gear. Children under 18-years-old must be accompanied by an adult.
