HIV Syringe Robbery: Woman Sentenced To 12 Years

Her accomplice allegedly threatened Naperville store employees with with a syringe he claimed was infected with HIV.

Janine I. Gurgone was sentenced to 12 years in prison for robbing a Naperville CVS store in last year, according to the Naperville Sun. On Nov. 15, 2016, Gurgone and an alleged accomplice stole just over $2,600 worth of over-the-counter medication from the CVS at 1299 E. Ogden Ave. in Naperville.

Police said Gurgone and accomplice Sanjay Malhotra threatened workers with a syringe he claimed was infected with HIV.

Niles police said the pair robbed another CVS using the same tactic the day prior, according to the Sun.

Gurgone, a 32-year-old Chicago resident, was previously convicted in Cook County Court for the Niles Robbery. Her sentences will run concurrently. Malhotra has been charged for the Niles and Naperville incidents and he is awaiting trial.
