47 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Last 7 Days In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — After nearly four months of declining numbers, Northbrook is continuing to trend in the wrong direction, with coronavirus cases on the rise for the ninth straight week (three-week moving average). The number of new cases in Northbrook increased by 30 percent over the last two weeks, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

In all, Northbrook has seen 3,559 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 47 new cases reported last week, compared to 69 new cases for the week of Aug. 16-23.

Since the first death was recorded on March 30, 2020, 118 Northbrook residents have died from the coronavirus. The last two deaths came on May 13.

In Northbrook, 28,240 people have completed their vaccine series, which is 85.1 percent of the population. It marks an increase of 133 fully vaccinated people since Aug. 23, according to the CCDPH. In addition, more than 90 percent of Northbrook residents have received at least one dose.

There have been 265,999 coronavirus cases in Cook County (excluding Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township) since the start of the pandemic, as of Monday. There have been 4,564 deaths. The community transmission level is currently at a high level, according to Cook County health officials.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 24,682 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois Friday, including 126 additional deaths, since the last weekly report on Aug. 13. More than 77 percent of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 60 percent of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The IDPH reported Friday 25,636 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois, including 174 additional deaths since reporting last Aug. 20. Almost 78 percent of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and 61 percent of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,508,005 cases, including 23,889 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Since reporting on Aug. 20, laboratories have reported 495,608 specimens for a total of 28,568,305. As of the night of Aug. 26, 2,240 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 500 patients were in the ICU and 253 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from August 20-26 is 5.2 percent. A total of 13,914,213 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 24,056 doses. Since reporting on Aug. 20, 168,391 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
