Northbrook Symphony Orchestra Announces 2022-2023 Season

The NSO launches its season with a family concert on Oct. 16.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The Northbrook Symphony Orchestra recently announced concert details for its 43rd Season. All concerts will begin at 4 p.m. and take place at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts (Glenbrook North High School, 2300 Shermer Road).

The season officially launches on Oct. 16, with a family concert introducing a program titled “Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage” featuring Classical Kids Live!, providing a family-oriented, unforgettable experience, according to a news release.

After a winter break, the second concert will be held on Feb. 26. 2023, featuring Noah Chennperforming the Schumann Cello Concerto and the NSO playing Brahms’ beautiful Serenade in D Major under Maestro Zikri’s baton.

The season closes on June 4, 2023, in a concert featuring the Violins of Hope. These are a private
collection of string instruments collected since the end of WWII. According to the news releasse, all instruments belonged to Jews before and during the war, specifically having to do with the Holocaust, and will be played by NSO musicians and the soloist. The program includes Bruch’s Violin Concert in g minor with soloist Masha Lakisova, winner of the Arkady Fomin Scholarship of the North Shore Chamber Music Festival. In addition, the orchestra will perform Dvorak’s Symphony #9 “From the New World” — symbolic of immigrants finding a new homeland in America.

The NSO is also finalizing plans to give a live private performance in an area school in furtherance of its educational outreach. Details will be released at a later date.
