Northbrook Theater Programs Receives $9.6K Grant

The matching grant will be used to fund programming for all ages at Northbrook Theatre Youth Company and Northbrook Community Theatre.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Good news for local theater groups. For the fourth straight year, the Northbrook Park District has received an arts grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, which will help fund performance arts programming for all age groups, including through Northbrook Theatre Youth Company and Northbrook Community Theatre.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by the IACA and awarded this grant to continue assisting us in
providing quality theatre programming for the community of Northbrook and beyond," said Erin Sweet, Northbrook Park District superintendent of arts and recreation.

To qualify for the grant, organizations must show their programs and activities have artistic, educational and cultural value for the areas they serve. Northbrook Park District’s Performing Arts programs look forward to presenting several productions in 2023, including:

  • "SpongeBob the Musical: Youth Edition," an all-singing, all-dancing dynamic stage show that puts the spotlight on the power of optimism, from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26.
  • "A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play," in which the Charles Dickens classic comes alive as a live 1940s broadcast complete with vintage commercials, on Dec. 16.
  • A series of one-day workshops that will give a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of makeup for theater.
