Rate Of Weekly Coronavirus Cases Down Slightly In Northbrook

There have been 3,106 coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Health officials in Illinois are continuing to see an uptick in coronavirus cases across the state. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Wednesday 2,765 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 28 additional deaths.

In Northbrook, cases had been rising for the last month after a drastic drop in cases to start 2021. As of Thursday, there have been 3,106 confirmed coronavirus-related cases in Northbrook, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 50 cases since our last report on April 15. For comparison, there was an increase of 74 cases between April 8-15. These numbers indicate an +28.1 percent change in confirmed cases over the last 14 days.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 117 people have died due to COVID-19 in Northbrook since March 29, 2020. The latest two deaths came on April 12. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, of 2020.

This marks an increase of 3,480 cases and 30 deaths since our last report on April 15. For comparison, there was an increase of 4,976 cases and 44 deaths between April 8-15. These numbers include all confirmed and probable cases under the jurisdiction of the Cook County Department of Public Health (excludes Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie, and Stickney Township).

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,309,552 cases, including 21,722 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 81,133 specimens for a total of 21,920,359. As of Wednesday night, 2,191 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 521 patients were in the ICU and 237 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from April 14-20 is 3.8 percent. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 14-20 is 4.4 percent.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 10,358,875. A total of 8,342,542 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight. The IDPH is reporting 25,346 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 3,495 deaths. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three different occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
