Oak Forest Man, 18, Faces Armed Robbery Charges: La Grange Police

OAK FOREST, IL — An 18-year-old Oak Forest man was arrested after he robbed another man at gunpoint Monday night in downtown La Grange, police said.

Nicholas V. Sierra is facing charges of armed robbery and theft of property from a person.

About 8 p.m., a man was walking near Harris and Madison avenues when Sierra told him, "Come here, man," according to a La Grange police news release. Sierra was holding a handgun in his left hand, pointing it toward the ground, police said.

Sierra stole the man's backpack, computer bag and phone and then entered a waiting vehicle, according to the release. The man gave police a significant part of the license plate information. Officers stopped the vehicle in question on East Avenue, south of Plainfield Road.

The victim positively identified Sierra as the person who robbed him, police said. Two other people were in the car.

On Tuesday, officers searched the vehicle and found the property belonging to the victim, but did not find the handgun, police said.

The other occupants of the car were released without charges, police said.
