In the robbery case, Sami Hirmiz was accused of kicking and punching a 19-year-old man at Lifetime Fitness last December in Orland Park with two other men, including Hadi Abuatelah, now 19, whose July 2022 arrest garnered national media attention after a citizen’s video captured three Oak Lawn police officers repeatedly punching him after he allegedly fled a traffic stop. The teen was later found to be allegedly lying on top of a crossbody bag containing a loaded gun. Abuatelah later pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon charges in juvenile court.

Sami Hirmiz is due for a pre-detention hearing Thursday afternoon at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
