Justice Children Who Died In LaPorte County Crash Identified
An 11-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl died Saturday in a 2-vehicle crash in LaPorte County. Officials said driver disregarded a stop sign.
LAPORTE COUNTY, IN — Two children died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in LaPorte County, Ind. An 11-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene.
The children were identified by the LaPorte County coroner as Alexander DeLeon, 11, and 4-year-old Luisa DeLeon.
Around 12:42 p.m., a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer pulling a U-haul trailer was traveling south on CR 900 West in LaPorte County. A red 2011 Ford F250 pickup tracy was heading east on Joliet Road. LaPorte County officials said the Chevy Trailblazer disregarded a stop sign when the two vehicles collided. Both drivers suffered upper body injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer was identified as Luis DeLeon Muniz, 41. A 36-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl also riding in the Chevy suffered upper body injuries. The 16-year-old girl was airlifted to a regional hospital.
The children were pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology test results are pending.
