2 Dead In Crash At 87th Street and Cicero Avenue: Police

Two people died in a vehicle crash at 87th Street and Cicero Avenue. Hometown and Oak Lawn police are investigating.

OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN, IL — Police were conducting a major accident investigation Sunday evening after a pickup truck slammed into a vehicle at 87th Street and Cicero Avenue on the Oak Lawn-Hometown border.

Around 6:48 p.m., Hometown police sent a text telling area residents to avoid the area due to a major accident. At least four ambulances left the scene. Witnesses reported hearing the accident from blocks away. Paramedics were seen giving a person lying on the street chest compressions before the person was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Chief Lou Dominguez, of the Hometown Police Department, told Patch that two people died according to a preliminary investigation.

One of the vehicles, a car, was completely sliced in two, with the passenger side open. Four people were taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

The roadway at 87th and Cicero Ave did not reopen until after midnight when the accident investigation was completed.
