79th Street Closed In Burbank After Water Main Break

BURBANK, IL - Traffic remains bad on 79th Street in Burbank late into Wednesday night as crews work to repair a water main break near Lorel Avenue. Burbank police closed the thoroughfare at State Road at 6 p.m. and still had it closed to vehicle traffic at 8 p.m.

All eastbound traffic in the area will be diverted onto northeast bound State Road during the closure. Westbound traffic will have only one lane open, which is progressing slowly toward Cicero Avenue.

Several residents have reported traffic problems just west of the affected area at the intersection of 79th and Central as well.

Police weren't sure just before 8 p.m. when the area is expected to clear, but earlier said the closure could last "a minimum of several hours."
