87th Street Closed Again After 2nd Accident Friday Morning

Oak Lawn police said they closed a portion of 87th Street at around 5:40 a.m. Friday and again at 8:30 a.m. for another traffic accident.

OAK LAWN, IL — Police are in the area of 87th Street for the second time Friday morning after another traffic accident has closed westbound lanes at South 55 Court, officials said.

The first incident occurred at around 5:40 a.m. and shut down a portion of 87th Street from McVicker to Melvina avenues. Police did not report any injuries at the time.

Streets were reopened at around 7 a.m. but were again closed at 8:33 a.m. for another traffic accident, police said in a social media statement. As of 10 a.m., only one eastbound lane was open for traffic.

Oak Lawn police were not immediately sure when the roadway would be reopened.
