Advocate Christ Medical Center named 4th ‘Best Hospital’ in Illinois

U.S. News & World Report ranks Christ on coveted Best Hospitals list, and names the medical center among best in nation in nine specialties.

Oak Lawn, IL – Advocate Christ Medical Center was nationally recognized this week by U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Hospitals’ ranking survey.

The medical center was ranked fourth overall among hospitals in Illinois and in the Chicago metro area, in addition to being nationally recognized in nine specialties, and among the top 50 hospitals in the country in four of those specialty areas.

The hospital ranked 15th in obstetrics and gynecology, 30th-best cardiology hospital in the country, 42nd in pulmonary and lung surgery, and 49th in gastroenterology and GI surgery. The medical center was also recognized as being among the top 10% of hospitals in five additional specialties – cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery and urology.

“This tremendous accomplishment is reflective of all of our teammates’ unwavering commitment to provide the highest quality care to our patients,” said Mike Farrell, interim president at Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children’s Hospital, which has a campus located at Christ.

Five other Advocate Health Care hospitals in Illinois were also named to the Best Hospitals list.

While the 2024-2025 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings will be shared later this year, Advocate Children’s Hospital was recently recognized with nine U.S. News & World Report national badges for pediatric specialties.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the survey is designed to assist patients and their doctors find the best hospital to treat their illness or condition. Each year, the organization evaluates more than 5,000 hospitals nationwide, assessing objective measures in most care areas, such as risk-adjusted survival, readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
