Back To School: Richards High School 2024-2025 Academic Calendar

OAK LAWN, IL —There are just a few short weeks of summer left, until students head back to school this month. Back-to-school planning has already begun at Richards High School, with calendars available to help parents prepare their children for a smooth transition into the 2024-2025 school year.

The first day of school for freshmen is Aug. 12. All grades (9-12) report Aug. 13.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. We also suggest that you check the Richards calendar and your child’s school calendar for conferences, open houses, meetings, exams, early dismissals, athletic and other school events.

Here's a look at some dates to know for the 24-25 school year:

Aug. 12 - First day of school, freshmen
Aug. 13 - All grades report
Sept. 2 - Labor Day, off
Oct. 10 - Parent Teacher Conferences, noon dismissal
Oct. 11 - No school
Oct. 14 - Indigenous People Day
Nov. 4 - No school - Institute Day
Nov. 5 - Presidential Election, no student attendance
Nov. 28-29 - Thanksgiving break
Dec. 23 to Jan. 5 - Winter break
Jan. 6 - School resumes
Jan. 20 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Feb. 10 - No school
Feb. 17 - Presidents Day
March 24 to March 28 - Spring Break
March 31 - Eid, no school
April 1 - Consolidated General Election, no school; teacher institute day
April 2 - School resumes
May 16 - Seniors last day
May 22 - Graduation
May 23 - Last day of student attendance
