Coronavirus Cases Dip Slightly In Oak Lawn

Case rates have dropped a bit in the past two weeks, and roughly mirror those of Suburban Cook County.

OAK LAWN, IL — Confirmed cases dipped slightly in Oak Lawn over the past two weeks, according to new data from the Cook County Department of Public Health.

Confirmed cases have decreased by 8% over the past 14 days in Oak Lawn. 64 cases were reported last week, making for a weekly case rate of 113 cases per 100,000 people. The village has seen a total of 7,011 confirmed cases, making for a total confirmed case rate of 12,367 per 100,000 people.

Weekly counts and rates are updated each Wednesday, and represent cases reported the previous Sunday through Saturday. According to a line graph on the CCDPH site, Oak Lawn case rates have more or less exactly matched those of Suburban Cook County over the course of the pandemic.

Oak Lawn falls just below Suburban Cook County in terms of vaccination rates. 36,751 people, or 64,8% of the population, have received at least one dose, while 30,414 people, or 53.6%, have received both.

In Suburban Cook County, 1,508,285 people, or 66.3% of the total population, have received at least one dose. 1,227,591 people, or 53.9% of the population, have received both.

In Suburban Cook County, there have been 280,324 confirmed cases and 4,700 deaths as of Oct. 1. The weekly case rate is 111 per 100,000 people, and there has been a 2.4% test positivity last week.
