Hot Spots: Top 25 Towns on Saturday's Heat Index

Did it feel like 116 degrees in your town? Sycamore, Shorewood, Naperville, Palos Park, Minooka and Plainfield rank among "hottest" suburbs.

Parts of the Chicago area hit 116 degrees on the “peak heat index” Saturday afternoon, according to unofficial readings from the National Weather Service in Chicago. Storms hit some suburbs briefly but pretty hard on Saturday, too. Sunday’s high is expected to be 87 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of showers.

The heat index expresses the discomfort felt as a result of the combined effects of the temperature and humidity of the air.
