Man Shoots Acquaintance At Burbank 7-Eleven: Police

Burbank police said the man called while officers were at the scene and admitted his involvement in the shooting.

BURBANK, IL — Attempted murder charges have been filed against a man accused of shooting an acquaintance earlier this week at a Burbank convenience store.

Bashar Yasin, 27, appeared for a pretrial hearing Wednesday at the Bridgeview courthouse, where he was placed on electronic monitoring.

Around 10:13 p.m. Monday, Burbank police responded to a shots fired call at 7-Eleven, 5560 W. 87th St.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside the store with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.

While officers were on scene, dispatch said they received a call from a man, later identified as Yasin, who claimed to be involved in the shooting, according to Burbank police.

Officers went to Yasin’s residence, where they found a loaded handgun purportedly used in the shooting. He was taken into custody.

Police said the two knew each other.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved a felony attempted murder charge and one felony count of aggravated battery with a firearm.

It is unknown if the two knew each other. The investigation is ongoing.
