OAK LAWN, IL — Dottie Zietara, owner of Deja Brew Bar & Grille in Oak Lawn, and the rest of her crew, raised $15,106 for Chicago Police Officer Danny Golden, who was left partially paralyzed after he was shot while trying to break up a fight off-duty in front of a Beverly bar.

The business ran a week-long special “Back the Blue” burger for the young officer. All sales from the special burger were donated to Golden and his family to help with his expenses and future modifications to his home.

“We are proud to announce that we sold a total of 845 burgers,” Zietara said on Facebook. Between burgers sold and cash donations we raised a total of $15,106, which will be donated to Danny Golden for his journey to recovery.

Zietara thanked her kitchen staff that kept up with the demand for the week, and her house staff who enthusiastically promoted the cause to customers and served them with a smile.

“We are so inspired by all the officers, family, our community, and CPD supporters who came and dined with us to show support,” she said. “In honor of the entire Chicago Police Department and Danny Golden, we will be adding the ‘Back the Blue’ burger to our menu.”
