OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN, IL — As peak heat index values above 105 degrees are possible on Sunday and Monday, residents are reminded that cooling centers are available in Oak Lawn and Hometown if needed.

The National Weather Service has issued an elevated excessive heat risk for the area. Residents are advised to take extra precautions and stay on top of weather-related conditions as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels during the weekend and into next week.

The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible. Expect afternoon highs in the mid to up 90s and low 80s in the evening.
