OL Park District Hosts One Last Blast of Summer Before School Starts

OAK LAWN, IL — Send summer off in a blaze of glory in the newest free event offered by the Oak Lawn Park District. Families are invited to “Summer’s Last Blast,” Friday, Aug. 19. The blast runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Centennial Park, 94th and Nashville Ave.

The evening features free games and activities, followed by a showing of Ghostbusters: Afterlife at 8:35 pm. The movie is being presented in partnership with the Village of Oak Lawn.

All the activities will be put on by park district staff, highlighting its many program areas. The summer blast will give patrons young and old the opportunity to sample a program they may not have tried previously.

“This is a unique opportunity to not only give everyone a small taste of our program offerings for free, but it’s a great way to showcase our great staff, community partners, and wonderful parks and facilities,” Oak Lawn Parks Executive Director Tom Hartwig said in a news release. “We are looking forward to seeing a ton of people at this event having a blast.”

Oak Lawn Park District also has space available for local businesses to be part of the event for free. Participating businesses can set up a booth and add to the fun by providing an activity for kids and families to participate in.
