Prayer Service For Former Oak Lawn Resident Mary Culbertson, 81

A prayer service will be held Dec. 7 for Mary (Czajkoski) Culbertson at Our Lady at St. Germaine Church in Oak Lawn.

OAK LAWN, IL — Family and friends of Mary (Czajkoski) Culbertson, formerly of Oak Lawn, will gather Dec. 7 at Our Lady at St. Germaine Church for a prayer service.

Born on July 16, 1940 in Bremond, Texas, to John and Virgie (Kopik) Czajkoski, Mary died Nov. 4. Mary grew up on Chicago’s South Side at 71st Street and Hoyne Avenue. She moved to Oak Lawn in 1973, where she raised her six children, all of them graduates of Oak Lawn Community High School.

Mary worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for manufacturing companies. The family lived near both sets of grandparents, who helped care for the children while their parents worked. Mary left Oak Lawn when her husband’s company transferred him to Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Bernard (Madeline) Czajkoski and Evelyn (Walter) Krason and partner Felton Wood.

Mary leaves a brother, Gene (late Twyla) Czajkoski and Marion (Carole) Czajkoski; her former husband Wesley Culbertson, and her children Dawn (John) Winiecki, Debra (Ron) Lathus, Michael (Anne Brett) Culbertson, Mark Culbertson, Brian (Lidia) Culbertson and William Culbertson, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was aunt to many nieces and
Nephews.

Mary's ashes will be blessed at 2 p.m. Dec. 7, at Our Lady at St. Germaine Church, 9737 S Kolin Ave., Oak Lawn. There will be no gathering after the service.
