Serious Injuries Reported In 3-Vehicle Crash On 87th Street

87th Street has reopened after Burbank and Oak Lawn police investigate a crash involving three vehicles with serious injuries.

OAK LAWN-BURBANK, IL — Burbank and Oak Lawn police are investigating a 3-car crash on 87th Street. Police have shut eastbound and westbound lanes on 87th Street between Ridgeland Avenue and Moody Avenue in Oak Lawn.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near 87th Street and Melvina Avenue. Neighbors told Patch that the driver of an SUV heading westbound on 87th Street appeared to have lost control and crashed into two vehicles in the eastbound lane.

The person from the striking vehicle, possibly the driver, ran away on foot, neighbors said, who was eventually apprehended by police. A woman who was riding in the vehicle kept trying to go back to the SUV to get things out of the back. At one point she appeared to be dancing.
