'Severe Hail/Wind Threat' This Evening

Temps hit 90 degrees today. Wind and heavy downpours expected.

The National Weather Service in Chicago is tracking scattered thunderstorm development with “an isolated severe hail/wind threat” and possible heavy downpours Wednesday evening.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are possible.

On Wednesday afternoon, temperatures officially breached 90 degrees in Chicago for the first time this year, according to the NWS.

THURSDAY FORECAST: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. East northeast wind 5 to 15 mph. In the evening, showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 66 by 8 p.m., then rising to around 74 during the remainder of the night.Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
