Traffic Alert Issued Wednesday For French Family Procession

Due to the visitation procession for fallen CPD Officer Ella French, motorists may experience delays Wednesday on Harlem Avenue and 79th St.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL — Police have issued a traffic alert Wednesday afternoon, to allow for the family procession for fallen CPD Officer Ella French.

The family procession is expected to pass through Bridgeview between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., southbound on Harlem Avenue from I-55 to 79th Street. The procession will proceed eastbound on 79th Street, toward its final destination at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine in Chicago, where visitation will be held for the 29-year-old officer.

Expect heavy police presence in the area. During the family procession, traffic accessing 79th Street will be blocked to allow for the procession's passing.

Motorists traveling through this corridor should allow for extra time. The Bridgeview police and fire departments will gather in Niko’s parking lot at 75th Street and Harlem Avenue to pay their respects.

The Burbank and Bedford Park fire departments will have a raised ladder flag at 79th Street and 65th Avenue, in front of Burbank City Hall. Residents may show their support for the French family by lining 79th Street.

A funeral Mass for French, who was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 7 while conducting a traffic stop. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday morning at St. Rita.
