Walter J. (Bud) Cokeley

June 28, 1947- May 16, 2024

WALTER J. (BUD) COKELEY, devoted father of Michael (Nahrain), James (the late Julie), and Robert. Loving Papa to Kevin (Arianna), Kaitlyn (Levi) Bax, Lucille, and Lillian. Great grandfather to Winston Bax and Roman Cokeley. Beloved brother to Loretta and Rosemary (Rose). Former husband to the late Margaret (Meg) Cokeley. He will be deeply missed by many other relatives and friends. Bud showed us all how to fight the good fight. He suffered for at least 4 years from stage 4 colon cancer never wanting to relent to the disease. Doctors and medical personnel would continue to remind him of his poor prognosis, but Bud wanted to go out fighting. His faith in God remained strong. His priorities were faith, family, & friends. He would never consciously say a bad word to hurt anyone's feelings. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran (1969-71), Leo man (Class of 1965), and a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan. He must have felt the need to talk with God about some divine intervention! He reunites with his parents, J. Walter (1976), Rita (1993), his beloved Aunt Nell (1973), and his brother, Thomas (2003). Visitation will be held on June 27, 2024, at St. George Church, 6707 W. 175th St., Tinley Park, from 9-10 am. The Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 10:00 am. Interment immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
