Celebrate Kwanzaa With Art, Poetry, Music In Oak Park

The event will feature poetry, live music, and a light reception.

OAK PARK, IL --- Oak Park residents will have a chance to celebrate Kwanzaa and learn about the traditional African holiday at a special Kwanzaa event hosted by Suburban Unity Alliance. The celebration will kick of at 2 p.m. at Oak Park Public Library and is set to include poetry readings, art, live music, and more.

The event's theme is "Why Kwanzaa?" and organizers aim to teach those who attend about the significance of Kwanzaa through the performances and during a reception with refreshments after the event. The seven-day observation of Kwanzaa began on Dec. 26 this year and will last until Jan. 1.
