Woman Fatally Shot, Orland Park Police Investigating

A woman died after being found shot inside a vehicle near 170th and Redbud Lane in the overnight hours. Police remain at the scene.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park police are investigating Wednesday morning, after a woman died after being found shot inside a car in the overnight hours.

Police were called at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday to the 170th block of Redbud Lane for a report of shots fired in the vicinity. Police discovered the shooting victim, described only as a female, inside a vehicle at the scene.

Life-saving attempts were unsuccessful, Orland Park police said.

The victim's identity was not disclosed as of early Wednesday morning. Police did not say if there is a threat or danger to the public.

The investigation is active and ongoing, police said. The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is on scene and working in conjunction with the Orland Park Police Department on the investigation.
