ORLAND PARK, IL — A new restaurant will be making its way to a familiar Orland Park location next year.

The village board approved of an inducement agreement Monday night to allow the future Chuck Lager - America's Tavern to take over the old Granite City Food & Brewery spot in town. The former restaurant closed in October 2019.

Fabio Viviani, hospitality developer and chef with over 35 restaurants across the country, is backing the new restaurant as founder and CEO. He has hopes of opening its doors in late spring 2022.

"Chuck Lager is one of our more fun concepts that takes the tavern causal environment experience and elevates it a little by combining well-thought bar food with a fun, upbeat atmosphere," Viviani said. "We are very happy to be in this city."

Viviani said the location will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner services. It will also have an event space inside, and be used as a training facility, as this is not the first location for the restaurant.

The location — 14035 S. LaGrange Road — is in the heart of Orland Park; downtown. With new plans to amp up the area, the restaurant is coming at a time of transformation for the village.

The property is made up of 1.873 acres and the proposal indicates the restaurant will be about 9,000 square-feet. The restaurant is anticipated to bring in substantial revenue, according to the inducement, and will generate at least 20 full-time and 40 part-time positions.

Remodeling and off-site work is expected to be not less than $2 million. The board unanimously approved of the inducement agreement, with Mayor Keith Pekau absent.

"These incentives are great to help build businesses here in Orland Park, and I think you're going to be a welcome addition," Trustee Michael Milani said. "You've got a great spot there. So looking forward to trying your food."

Viviani is also a best-selling author, who appeared on Bravo's "Top Chef" in 2008, where he was voted fan favorite. Learn more about the new restaurant on its website, here.
